Next to Vulcan, Sloss Furnaces has been one of the city’s most iconic landmarks for over 100 years. Home of Birmingham’s steel industry beginnings, Sloss Furnaces is open to the public six days a week with guided and unguided tours. It is also home to some of the city’s biggest events and concerts of the year.
It is one of the most interesting sites to see in the city. With its rich history it will transport you to another time all together; to a day when this line of work was dangerous, our country was working to find its way in industry, and things weren't quite so kind for the common worker. It is in light of these events that every Halloween it becomes host to a one-of-a-kind haunted house experience, Sloss Fright Furnace, which depicts those taken to the grave by its checkered past coming back to haunt us.
