Big Beach Brewery is a local favorite to unwind and enjoy some locally brewed craft beers! They have numerous types of ales, IPA's, lagers and regularly released new brews based on the season and local fare. Big Beach Brewery also hosts a weekly running club, live music and local community events. This particular event is near and dear, as two locals (born and raised) are releasing an album that they recorded in the notorious Muscle Shoals Studio. This event will for sure be a good time to be had by locals and visitors. Whether you come for music or the beer (or both), this watering hole will not disappoint!

Friendly people that provide amazing service along with the fabulous food makes for a great time! It is located on the beach and the outside sitting area is my favorite.

Sunliner Diner is new to Gulf Shores. It is a step back in time. The atmosphere is awesome. Waiter and waitresses dress like the 50's Diner workers, with music matching the era.

Everyone is setting up for the wonderful band at Meyer Park. It’s going to be great Blues. The weather is amazing but it’s a little cool so you might want to wear a sweater. Bring what you want to drink and eat. Pets are welcome and there’s plenty of room. Bring your hula hoop if you can!

My family had a great lunch on Sunday afternoon. Our server, just happened to be the owner of the restaurant. The view of the beach and newly renovated boardwalk, was so relaxing. We ordered two appetizers, fried green tomatoes with shrimp and tuna wontons, and they were incredible! My husband and mother in law had the blackened shrimp tacos as their entree and they looked delicious!! So fresh with the right amount of seasoning on corn tortilla shells. My father in law had the breakfast burger, he said it was the best burger he has ever eaten. I had the Berry Blast Salad. It was so fresh and had a citrus dressing, so yummy. I plan on taking my potential clients and friends to my new favorite spot. Try it, you will not be disappointed! Bills by the Beach.

Gulf Shores has much to offer. Sit back, relax, enjoy the beach life. Seafood that is fresh and many restaurants to pick from makes dining out an enjoyable experience. Activities can keep you busy or if unwinding and listening to the waves and reading a good book is for you, we have that also! Moving to Gulf Shores has been one of the best decisions of my life.

Come and join us in the grand re-opening of Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge’s Jeff Friend Trail! The trail was closed for renovations back in September 2017, to improve its accessibility for those with mobility impairments. Thanks to a combination of Deepwater Horizon Natural Resource Damage Assessment Early Restoration and federal funding the trail now features new boardwalks, several new viewing platforms, easier to navigate trail materials as well as a new ADA parking area. We are pleased to once again, open this one-mile loop trail to the public for their enjoyment!

Looking for a family-friendly, fun atmosphere to eat and enjoy watching sports? Look no further than Island Wing Company in Gulf Shores! It is one of my favorite places to eat because they offer a vegetarian-friendly menu, but not to worry, they also have a delicious variety of menu options for the carnivores. If you are a local, you can get a discount card that offers one free appetizer every month plus 10% off of your order. Pretty amazing I must say! Be sure to check it out and don't forget to order the hummus appetizer or the fried green beans with wasabi ranch.

Yes, it is Shrimp Festival time again in Gulf Shores. Follow Hwy 59 all the way to the beach and you will find the festival. Food, music, art, crafts, and of course the beautiful white sandy beach of Gulf Shores. The festival is always held on the second full weekend of October so if you can't make it this year... schedule a trip for next time.

The newest sensation to hit Gulf Shores is The Yard Milkshake Bar, located at 3800 Gulf Shores Parkway. They have specialty milkshakes, along with edible cookie dough, bowls, and cones. Choose from twenty-eight ice cream flavors or eight different cookie doughs. You can have sugar or waffle cones, design your own sundae, or try a delicious float. Shakes are served in Mason jars, but what makes them so special are the add-ons – they include cotton candy, a birthday cupcake, a slice of cheesecake, a doughnut, and lots of different candy. Reviews have all been five star for this gourmet ice cream shop, and the lines are long to sample the fare. They’re closed on Mondays, but are open 12:00–8:00 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Don’t miss this unique stop; their milkshakes bring everyone to the yard!

Why should you move to Gulf Shores, or at least have a second home in the area? Because of our beautiful winter days where the high temperature hovers in the mid-seventies. Winter is one of the best times to be at the beach. Traffic is light, parking is plentiful and the view is amazing! It's the perfect time to relax in a beach chair and listen to the surf. The fluffy white sand on our beaches is the closest thing to snow you'll find and we love it that way! We know that you will love it too; just give it a try!

The beginnings of Mardi Gras on the Alabama Gulf Coast date back to 1704. The first formal ball was held in Mobile, Alabama where guests who belonged to secret societies wore intricate masks and extravagant costumes. During this time, Mobile was the capital city of the French Louisiana Territory before the capital was moved to New Orleans in 1718. Mardi Gras is known in other parts of the world as Carnival and holds the distinction of being the oldest Carnival celebration in the United States. Mardi Gras day is commonly known as Fat Tuesday; the last day of feasting and revelry before the beginning of Lent. Today’s Mardi Gras celebration includes city wide parades with extravagant floats, opulent balls, and delicious King Cakes which are traditionally only eaten during the Mardi Gras season. It’s a great time to visit Alabama’s Gulf Coast and join in the celebration!

Why does everyone want to move to the beach? Reasons differ from one to the next. Boating, fishing, skiing, and a whole list of other activities on the water bring some, while others are content to sit on the shore and enjoy the sight, smell, and sound of the waves.

Whatever your reason, late afternoon is a great time to get out and enjoy the beaches in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Crowds have thinned and temperatures cooled, so the atmosphere is perfect for a long, slow walk, or for an all-business search for the most unique seashells. Sunsets are a show like no other, and every color of the rainbow can be seen in the sky over the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico. So, while “late afternoons” might not be the number one answer given when asked why a move to the beach was made, I think everyone can agree that it should be.
