Limestone Springs Golf Course is located just across the Jefferson County line in Blount County. The golf course is a scenic area and a pleasure to play. The 19th hole has outstanding food and a great place to relax after a round of golf.

Just a 35 minutes drive from Birmingham is The Village at Blount Springs. A gated community in a beautiful setting with a lake, trails, swim club, club house, just to name some of the amenities they offer. The buildings and homes all feature the Southern Living architecture and include a Post Office and Chapel. History says the original Blount Springs offered healing waters in its mineral springs and was a favorite getaway for people from all over. Legend and myth stories abound if you are looking for more interesting stories about Blount Springs.

I remember as a child when my parents and their friends would load all the kids in the car and take a long drive from my hometown to get BBQ. All I knew was it served BBQ, catfish and fried pies and it was called Top Hat. Top Hat has been serving up some of Alabama's best BBQ since 1967. Even today my husband and I take a trip up I65 to the Blount Springs exit to satisfy our craving for BBQ, fries (with extra sauce for dipping the fries) and fried pecan pies. Comfort food is what I call it and the memories of learning what good food and friends are like from my parents. The drive up from Birmingham is really pretty this time of year, too!

Palisades Park, located in the foothills of the Southern Appalachians, is an 80 acre park owned by Blount County and is Blount County's best kept secret! The park offers a tranquil atmosphere with scenic views from Ebell Mountain, three rustic indoor lodges, rock climbing, hiking trails, and also offers several sites for a day of picnicking. My favorite place is the view of the rolling hills and plateaus of North Alabama from the bluff side. You will not want to miss the variety of plants, trees and wildlife surrounding this 80 acres of nature at its best! Visitors have enjoyed this park since November of 1973. Do not miss the opportunity to visit this awesome place!
