    The Alabama Nature Center at the Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) has a goal of introducing visitors to the woods, water and wildlife in Alabama. Guests get up close and personal with native wildlife. Recently added to their educational display units are the Eastern Indigo Snake and Gray Rat Snake. These exhibits are designed in a way to mimic the snakes' natural habitats so that guests get a complete visual of these species in the wild.

    The AWF is the oldest and largest non-profit conservation organization in Alabama. The AWF was established by sportsmen in 1935 to promote the conservation and wise use of our wildlife and natural resources and to ensure a high quality of life for future generations of Alabamians.
    AWF headquarters is located at Lanark in Millbrook, Alabama. Lanark contains five distinct destinations: AWF Headquarters, Historic Lanark, Lanark Pavilion, the Alabama Nature Center and the NaturePlex.

    The Millbrook Revelers Mardi Gras festival has become one of the "must attend" events in Alabama in the month of February. It is the largest Mardi Gras celebration north of Mobile and with over 60 vendors on site, there will be something for everyone.

    The vendors come from Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida and of course the state of Alabama. Food items vary from alligator on a stick, to gumbo, red beans and rice, smoked turkey legs and much more. There will be fun rides for children of all ages. Pony rides, water walker, a climbing wall and the zip ride.

    Mardi Gras Parade starts at noon! The only "theme" for the parade is Laissez Les Bons Temp Rouler or Let the Good Times Roll. The Millbrook Revelers Mardi Gras Festival and Parade will be held on February 18, 2017. The Festival grounds will officially open at 9:00 a.m. The
    parade will begin at noon.
