Mo's Landing is a sweet little spot off Fort Morgan Road on Little Lagoon. It has boat slips and boat parking so you can put your boat in the water if you don't have access somewhere else. There is a smaller beach that you can use to swim in the lagoon if you'd like to stay away from the beach crowds. The area has picnic tables if you would like to have lunch and not get rained on or to get away from the sun for a bit. There are nice bathrooms and beautiful huge trees.

My kids and I commonly park there to hop on the Fort Morgan Trail across the street and ride bikes. My boys like climbing the trees at Mo's! Mo's Landing also has events from time to time such as large kayaking get-togethers. It's just a great spot to know is there!

Waterside Resort constructed by DR Horton is a new neighborhood development located only one mile down Fort Morgan in Gulf Shores. The neighborhood is perfectly situated on Little Lagoon. There is a brand new community pool and fishing pier to enjoy! I fell in love with it when I took a tour of the homes in Waterside Resort. What a unique and serene place to live full time or vacation. Beaches, shopping and entertainment are only a few short miles away. Fun for all of the family!

The Village Hideaway is truly a hidden gem! This restaurant is located down Fort Morgan at The Beach Club. It is a great spot for a nice couples dinner or bring the entire family! The kids will enjoy playing the Xbox or other games they have to offer. The menu offers a great variety of food to choose from. I ordered the smoked Salmon and a roll of sushi and it was amazing! Also, the bar has a great selection of local beers on tap. If you're wanting to grab a bite to eat away from the crowds, this is the place!

When most people think of the Alabama Coast they think or Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and maybe even Mobile. But nestled in between all these fast growing tourist areas is Fort Morgan!

Fort Morgan is rich in history and a great place to make future memories. Load up everyone in the car.. then load the car on the ferry to Dauphin Island! The trip over offers lots to see; lots of birds and wild life! Then once your arrive on Dauphin Island you can visit the Bird Sanctuary and Sea Lab Estuarium. Then after a fun filled day, you load up again and have a relaxing ride back to Fort Morgan!

I was thrilled to take my son to Fort Morgan. The memories are priceless. I think it is a must see if you are visiting the Coast.

At the tip of Hwy 180 in what is known as Mobile Point is where land ends and history begins. It was here that Fort Morgan was erected in 1834. This national treasure was vital in protecting the U.S. borders along the Mobile Bay. After the successful British invasion known as the Second Battle of Fort Bowyer in 1815, it was determined that adequate defense was needed to stave off future attacks. The U.S. Government commissioned the fort to be built in 1818, but it wasn't completed until 16 years later.

Fort Morgan is a great place to learn about the history of Southern Alabama. You can go with your family or even schedule large group tours. There are also seasonal tours that highlight specific events such as the Civil War. If you look on the website's calendar, you'll find awesome scheduled events throughout the year including historical reenactments, a Memorial Day tribute, and small arms and cannon demonstrations. There's also plenty of bird watching and fishing available near the fort.

I have an 11 year old black lab named Lucy who loves playing on the beach and swimming. Finding a good spot that allows us to bring our furry friends can be tough, but Lucy and I have developed a routine that leaves us both sandy and happy! Dogs on a leash are allowed on beaches in the city of Fort Morgan, but must remain on the beach between the Engineer's Wharf and the Fishing Pier. Fort Morgan beaches offer some of the most beautiful sunsets around and are filled with friendly people. One of the most delightful days I have spent with my husband was riding the ferry over from Fort Morgan to Dauphin Island. The ferry, operated by HMS Ferries, carries cars and occasionally RVs and trailers as well as pedestrians. Prices for autos start at $16 (with additional charges for extra passengers) and $5 for pedestrians.
The ferry dock is located almost all the way at the end of the Fort Morgan peninsula - past The Beach Club, past Gulf Shores Plantation, past Kiva Dunes, past Boykin Court, past the Indies - almost to the fort itself. The ferry leaves Fort Morgan at 8:45 AM and makes its last run of the evening at 7:15 (during Daylight Savings Time). Departure times are about an hour and a half apart.
Once you arrive on the Dauphin Island side, be sure and check out the Estuarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. This is an interactive facility filled with information on all kinds of coastal marine life.
One tip: If you leave Fort Morgan without your car, be sure that you hop on the ferry on the Dauphin Island side before 6:30 p.m. That is the last departure from Dauphin Island to Fort Morgan. Happy cruising!

The Fort Morgan Peninsula offers a wide variety of places to stay and to visit, including several public parks and beach access points. You'll often find a quieter beach, a more relaxed and eclectic atmosphere; sort of the way I remember the beach from growing up. The Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge, Fort Morgan, and other areas provide a unique look at the natural beauty of the area not found elsewhere.

Twice yearly in April and October, bird banding is conducted at the Fort. As the Fort Morgan area is a stopover for migrating birds many species can be seen here that you normally might not see. Additionally, you can learn from the experts who track the migration and you may be able to participate in the release of banded birds, as my grandchildren were allowed to do. A great educational experience for all ages.

Ft Morgan Rd is a delightful 22 mile long drive passing the Bon Secour wildlife reserve and nature trails ending at the Fort. On those sunny calm days enjoy taking the car and passenger ferry over to Dauphin Island. Remember to check online or the ferry sign at the beginning of Ft Morgan Rd as you turn off Gulf Shores Pkwy, which informs you whether the ferry is running or not that day. Rough and windy days the ferry is normally closed.

I am a history buff and Fort Morgan has a lot to tell. Folks who come here looking for beach area condos and homes always enjoy taking a trip 22 miles out Fort Morgan Hwy and to see where some of our more resent history got stated. Fort Morgan was built after the War of 1812 to protect Mobile Bay. There is a great museum that reflects a lot of history. I feel you will enjoy it as much as my wife and I have.
