This local's favorite is a rock star! Located at the crossroads of County Road 49 and Bon Secour Highway, this hidden gem offers a relaxed, casual dining atmosphere. You can sit indoors with quaint chalkboard menus adorning the rustic walls or outdoors next to a cozy fireplace.

    Like oysters? Tin Top is sure to please with some of the best raw, fried, and baked oysters on the Gulf Coast. My favorite style is fried - when they are fried right! Seriously, the oysters need to be crispy on the outside and cooked but not dry on the inside. Frying oysters is a lost art that thankfully Tin Top has mastered.

    Tin Top is also well known for their killer lobster bisque, crab cakes, and fresh fish prepared with a New Orleans flare. If you prefer land over the sea, their steaks are just as popular as their seafood. They also offer a champagne brunch on Sundays and a nice lunch menu for the weekdays. Tin Top Restaurant and Oyster Bar is a great choice for a delicious meal!

    Do You Love Gulf Seafood?
    I don't know about you, but for me, part of the appeal of living on Alabama's Gulf Coast is the abundance of fresh seafood. Tucked away on the Bon Secour River is a fabulous, open-air seafood market - Billy's Seafood. Their tagline is: "If it swims, we've got it!" and I believe that's true. It's a bit off the beaten path, but from Gulf Shores, it's only about a 20-minute drive. And when you get there, the view of the Bon Secour River and the shrimp boats that dock there is just a bonus!

    Out of site is definitely not out of mind when it comes to the Tin Tip Restaurant over in Bon Secour. Whether it is purposeful dining or the irresistible urge to stop by after picking up fresh seafood from Aquila's Seafood Market on the Bon Secour, I have yet to not be pleased with their food, entertainment or overall environment.

    My absolute favorite thing on Tin Top's menu is the Lobster Bisque. Whether by the bowl or by the gallon, and I have purchased both and everything in between. It is absolutely delicious down to the very last spoonful. Another one of my favorite menu items is the Pecan Encrusted Fresh Catch with the House Crawfish Sauce. Absolutely delicious!

    The environment is definitely casual so there is no need to dress up for a night on the town and the entertainment is typically crowd engaging and enjoyable to listen to. Be sure to give them a visit and enjoy.

    The heart of Bon Secour is on the west side of the river. It's a small village atmosphere comprising of a post office, Swift Elementary School on School House Creek, TinTop restaurant which offers fine dining, three or four churches and commercial fisheries where you can buy fresh fish every day. Originally owned by the Swift family who ran a lumber mill right on the banks of the river, The Swift family home is open to the public and a lovely place to experience the southern charm and hospitality as the two old ladies give you a guided tour of the home and history of Bon Secour.

    Fresh Fish in Bon Secour
    Bon Secour means safe harbor which has protected many a boat over the years and still offers safe harbor to three working commercial fisheries on the river, Bon Secour Fisheries, Aquilla Seafoods and Billy`s Seafood which is a great place to visit if you want fresh catch of the day. They have shrimp of all sizes and oysters by the sack load. You can get there by car or boat.

    Bon Secour and the Huggers Landing area are one of the most beautiful and under rated areas in Gulf Shores. Beautiful old oak trees and peaceful riverfront communities boast some of the best sunset views in Gulf Shores.
