A new extreme recreation center is coming to the 280 Corridor. It will be located at the site of the Airwalk indoor trampoline park building. The new facility is approximately 30,000 square feet, about twice the size of Airwalk. The recreation center offers rock climbing walls, foam pits, obstacle courses, a flying trapeze, plus other exciting adventures.

Hoover's 2016 budget amendment is approved. Here are the items focused in the amendment. With the size of Hoover being about 50 square miles the need for more law enforcement officers has increased. A budget of about $1.2 million was set to fund the increase in the visibility of the Hoover Police force with more officers and equipment including vehicles. $1.3 million more funding was approved for the Hoover School System, while $3 million was allowed for infrastructure needs including paving roads. This $3 million will be allocated from the cities gas tax revenues.

Veterans Park is home this year to the 2016 Celebrate Hoover Day. The event is scheduled for Saturday April 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is free to the public and will feature activities for the whole family, from musicians to inflatables, pony rides, a kids play zone and also a car show. There will be a dedication of memorial pavers which were bought to honor veterans. There will also be a re-enactment of the 1945 raising of the American flag at Iwo Jima.
