Both of my children graduated from Decatur High School. Both went on to SEC Schools and graduated with 3.8+ GPAs. The test scores do not tell the whole story. Teachers throughout the system are invested and engaged in helping the students grow and develop. There is a mix of racial and cultural profiles in our community. that is for certain, but I have always seen that as a positive so that my children could learn to engage with different viewpoints. My kids got a great education and a great foundation for their future which they are now living out. Decatur is a great place to raise a family, not a perfect one as I don't think those exist, but a great one. (Full disclosure that I hope doesn't discredit me: I also drive a bus for DCS for the insurance, but I didn't start driving until my kids had both graduated.)
