Growing up here in Athens, I have seen this area blossom within the last decade to a wonderful place that I am blessed to call my home. The Robert Beaty Historic District offers a peek into the past with homes dating back to the 1800's. Take a stroll through this community and view the lovely architecture of days gone by or visit our lovely Limestone County Court House which was built in 1887. It still houses courtrooms as well as provides offices for legal business on a daily basis.Limestone County is bordered on the west by the Elk River and on the south by the Tennessee River which provides for many days of fun filled river activities to include boating and fishing. The first weekend in October for the past 50+ years, the crisp fall air is filled with the sounds from the famous Tennessee Valley Fiddlers Convention. Thousands of participants as well as just onlookers enjoy this event which features crafts as well as a variety of food trucks and good ole' Southern cooking. There is so much to see and do here in Athens, one must come and experience it themselves to appreciate this unique and wonderful place.
