    Did you know that Chickasaw has a district in the National Register of HIstoric Places?
    That's right! Way back in the early 20th century Chickasaw was a company town owned by Chickasaw Shipbuilding. The company built nice homes, stores and other facilities. In 1940, Gulf Shipbuilding purchased it and added paved streets and shopping areas. Fast forward to recent history when on September 3, 2004, the Chickasaw Shipyard Village was added to the National Register of HIstoric Places.
