Built in 1927 this building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The 1927 building was built on top of the site of the original Watts building erected in 1888. Watts is an Art Deco style building that is very glamorous with its pointed façade giving a clear nod to the Art Deco era. It stands 236 ft. tall. Watts is a popular building that is mostly residential and privately owned condos. It has 15 floors of condos and stands 17 floors highs. There are two penthouses and each have large outdoor balconies. Watts was named after its developer, Thomas Haynes Watts, III. In 1999 renovations of the building were completed at a cost of $6.1 million. There are over 30 residential condos in this renovated building. The foyer is very ornate with cathedral ceilings, stone walls and floors. Travertine is found throughout this building.
