Chase Creek At Spring Hill Area Insight

  • Chase Creek At Spring Hill Development
My husband and I stumbled upon Chase Creek at Spring Hill when we moved to the area in December 2006. Like many people, we found a home to rent (we still had a house to sell in Minnesota!), did our research on the area, checked out the school reviews and decided to sign a lease on a home in the subdivision. Since the owner did not have any intention of selling the home, we knew we would be moving somewhere else at the end of our lease. By the middle of the year it was apparent we wouldn't try to take our three children out of Central Elementary because they had quickly developed friendships and liked the school, their classmates and their teachers. If you have children, you know where I'm coming from! Once they are established, it's a lot harder to uproot them. Especially in our case since we had just moved them so far away from their home and everything and everyone they knew and loved in Minnesota.

I have to admit that I initially experience a bit of culture shock when we first moved here! It was so very rural. I'll never forget the first time I saw a cow walking down the road. For a city girl, that was quite an experience! I've gotten used to it and now cows have come to symbolize peace, calm and quite and put me in a state of zen. Whenever it's safe and possible, I'll hop out of my car and snap a few shots if I see some cows! You'll notice a lot of cow pictures in my photos.

Fast forward 10, almost 11 years, I really can't think of living anywhere else. I absolutely love our community. It's country living with easy "city" access. When I tell people who are unfamiliar with the area where we live, the initial thought is that we live "so far out". But that is so untrue. I can get to my office in South Huntsville in about 15-20 minutes and my husband can get to his job in Research Park in 20-25 minutes.

While I wish there was a unique clothing or department store in the area, the new Wal-mart on Winchester Road which opened in late 2016, just 10 minutes away, offers just about anything one might need on a given day. There are several Dollar Generals in the area which are perfect for quickly grabbing up a forgotten item. The Publix Shopping Center, also about 10 minutes away, is bustling with a variety of shops and dining including a Pizza Hut, China Cook, Raphael's Italian Restaurant (delicious!), The Chill Factory and now Beignet Cafe. In the opposite direction is the Kroger on Moore's Mill Road and there are a myriad of shops and dining facilities between the two locations. A short drive to Gurley, AL is El Coyote Mexican Restaurant, a favorite of the students at Madison County High School. Along Hwy 72, the main thoroughfare into the heart of Huntsville there are all the standard eateries like McDonald's, Subway, KFC, Arby's, Taco Bell and Wendy's. There is a top-notch gym, 24/7 Health Club and Wellness Center, several drug stores, car part stores and more, all within a 10-15 minute drive of the subdivision. And the schools are top notch. While we may not have everything we want, we have more than what we need.

Our little part of the world may not have as many options as South Huntsville or Madison or some other popular areas, but like I mentioned before, I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. I think this area is a hidden gem. What the area lacks in commerce it makes up for in community. I love living in a cul-de-sac and I enjoy morning or evening walks through the neighborhood, waving to neighbors, watching children play outside and listening to birds chirping and dogs barking along the way. Every now and then I'll catch people paragliding overhead or I'll see a plane taking off from Mootown Airport. Neighbors look after each other, give out holiday gifts and lend a hand when needed. I could go on forever talking about this neighborhood. After all, we have almost 11 years of history here and I've grown to love every minute of it.
