    Nestled in the secluded rolling hills, off the beaten path near the Chelsea / Pelham city limits is the fantastic and established neighborhood of Oaklyn Hills. Because of the irregular city boundaries - not to mention the mailing addresses - one could easily conclude that Oaklyn Hills is one of Chelsea's neighborhood jewels, but the development does lie within the Pelham eastern city limits.

    The quiet streets and family atmosphere make for the perfect place to raise your family; perfect to enjoy a suburban lifestyle away from the traffic and the associated hustle and bustle one might find in some neighborhoods in the city a few miles to the north. The large fishing lake and quiet streets, coupled with the views of the rolling hills, and even Oak Mountain to the north, provides for an atmosphere of privacy and seclusion. Yet even so, your everyday necessities and shopping are only a few minutes away.

    The I-65 / County Road 52 interchange is approximately eight miles to the west. Here you'll find a Publix grocery store, restaurants, banks, pharmacies, doctors, hair care, and more in and around the Huntley Parkway shopping center. And to the east approximately five miles, you'll find Winn-Dixie, a Walmart super center, shops, restaurants, pharmacies, auto parts, hardware, pet doctors, and more along Highway 280 at Chelsea.

    The commute couldn't be much better for any neighborhood south of town. The location gives you choices of the two main transportation arteries into Birmingham and to the I-459 beltway; with both I-65 and Highway 280 only five to 10 minutes away. The homes in this beautifully landscaped and manicured neighborhood generally range in the mid to high 200's to high 300's, with some homes reaching the 700K's.

    To find Oaklyn Hills going east on Hwy 280, turn right on County Rd 43 (also known as Bear Creek Rd), then left on County Rd 280 (Old 280 Hwy), to right on County Rd 11. After approximately 4 miles, turn left on Hwy 36 (at the Shell Station) and then right into Oaklyn Hills.

    From I-65 South take exit 242 (the tank farm exit), and left on County Rd 52, Take left on County Highway 11 and proceed approximately 7 miles to right on County Rd 36 (just after crossing railroad ) at the Shell Station. Oaklyn Hills will be on your right.

    I am constantly amazed at all the family activities that are within a few minutes from the great neighborhood of Oaklyn Hills. Where else could you be "next door" to Oak Mountain State Park with the hiking trails, award winning mountain bike trails, fishing lakes, camping, horse back riding, golf and much much more.

    Oaklyn Hills is a beautiful, well kept neighborhood right on the dividing line of Chelsea and Pelham. It is located off County Highway 36, just off County Highway 11 in Shelby County. The neighborhood is roughly equidistant from the two main corridors going south of metro Birmingham (Hwy 280 and I-65) and is about five minutes from each. The location makes it an easy commute if your work takes you to Birmingham and especially easy for places like Hoover, Mountain Brook, Homewood, Pelham and all points south.

    It's a great neighborhood with homes primarily in the mid to high 200's with some homes valued as high as the upper 700's. It boast manicured lawns, a family atmosphere and a beautiful lake to add to the incredible views already available in this part of Shelby County.
