    Tannehill State Park was once a confederate stronghold used for making steel and ammunition. It now serves as a state park with great camping from primitive sites up to and including RV sites with full hook ups. Starting in March and continuing until November of each year they hold monthly trade days, a great outdoor flea market.
  • Explore Tannehill State Park's Halloween Fairyland for a full day of non-scary family fun from 8:00 a.m.to 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 26. The 22nd annual event will feature moonwalks, face painting, balloon animals, a bungee jump, train rides and more. In the evening, the park will have trick-or-treat stops at more than 200 campsites, which all feature creative Halloween lights and decorations. The event is open to all ages. Park admission is $3 for ages 12 and older, $2 for ages 62 and older and $1 for ages 6-11. Admission is free for children 5 and younger.   • Numerous communities are available in McCalla on the southend of I-459 off of Exit 1 traveling along Eastern Valley Rd toward Tannehill State Park.
