The property is an incredible addition to the Madison County area, and we hope that it can serve as a joining point for residents of Huntsville, Madison, and beyond. With amazing spaces for events, parties, and tons of space to watch an awesome baseball game, Toyota Field is a welcome part of Madison county!

The beautiful historical homes in downtown Madison are within walking distance to local shops and restaurants. Many have been updated and others are just waiting for the right person to come along and put modern cosmetic touches on these beautiful pieces of Madison history. Church Street is the most prominent area of historic homes in Madison.

At the top of Rainbow Mountain, you have several options of trails that wind through the Rainbow Mountain Preserve. The entrance to the Preserve is accessed from Hughes Road across from Discovery Middle School by turning east onto Oakland Trace, right on Concord, then left onto Stoneway Trail. Follow Stoneway Trail up the mountain. The park pavilion is located at the top of the mountain on the left. There are 12 parking spots available in the parking lot and then overflow parks on the street. The main trail is located next to the water tower. There are four main trails that provide over five miles of hiking. There are some beautiful views from atop Rainbow Mountain and several geological sites such as Balance Rock and Baby Balance that are a must see. The trails can be slick so do watch your step!

Villalongin is on Hwy 20 in Madison. It's clean, has good food and the staff is very friendly. If you're looking for a new Mexican restaurant to try, stop by Villalongin. I think you'll be happy you did!
  • Casa Blanca is located on Bailey Cove Road in South Huntsville. It is a great local Mexican Restaurant that serves a large selection of entrees. It usually stays busy with people that live in the Valley. It is a popular place to go after baseball and softball games. The entire teams often come there to eat after the games. Thursday night is trivia night which is very popular. There is always something happening. One of the nicest things about the restaurant is the location. It makes it handy when you don't even have to leave the Valley. The owners are nice and are eager to please. This is one of four locations. When you are in the mood for Mexican food give Casa Blanca a try.
  • When one thinks of a Mall they usually think of great shopping with stores like Belks, Dillards and Macys. The last thing they think about is a Mall for Medical Issues. Well.... in Huntsville there exists a Mall for that very thing. A Mall once filled with stores has been replaced with Physician offices, testing facilities and admission counselors. The "Huntsville Medical Mall" is a handy one stop shop for taking care of many of your medical needs. They process a lot of the paperwork for the Physicians, plus insurance paperwork and tests ordered by the Doctors can usually be completed at the Medical Mall. If therapy is needed it can be done at the Medical Mall. Rehab, no problem, just come to the Medical Mall.

If you are having an upcoming operation all the necessary testing and work can be handled at the Medical Mall. The Mall is large and houses some Physicians offices in addition to medical support staff. It streamlines the entire process.

This complex was originally called the "Heart of Huntsville Mall" because it was located in the "Heart of Huntsville" back in the day. It had some wonderful stores. It is still located at the intersection of Governors Drive and the Parkway. They also have a indoor swimming pool and a Wellness Center. In case you get hungry, there are a few places to grab lunch within the complex.

Just like the original "Heart of Huntsville Mall" boasted some great stores back in the day, the "Heart of Huntsville Medical Mall" now boasts great resources for both the patients and the medical community. Where else you can get all your tests performed under one roof plus have lunch.

Sure does makes it nice when you don't have to drive all over town to get tests performed.....that one stop idea...yeah....I think it's a great one.
  • There are only three gated communities in the North Alabama area. One is "McMullen Cove" located in Gurley and the second is "The Ledges" located in Huntsville. The only Gated community located in Madison is "Chapel Hill". Typically Gated communities are noted for the increased security they offer. These communities offer controlled entrance and exit by a code. Some of these communities actually have guards at the entrance areas. Of course, all security can be circumvented if one really chooses to do so. These subdivisions do however offer extra vigilance to keep out undesirables. The door to door prospecting nuisances can be kept out of these gated communities altogether. Living in a gated community does have its advantages. The overall appearance is usually top notch. The landscaping which is kept fresh throughout the year is part of the aesthetics. The manicured common areas stay that way regardless of the season. The amenities are also first class. Oh course they come with a price usually reflected in the HOA dues. For those who love living in a gated community it is one of comfort and status. Chapel Hill for instance offers a beautiful community lake for its residents. The average sales prices run in the $400's- $500's. There are homes that run into the millions as well. If you love living in a gated community and plan to live in Madison you may want to visit Chapel Hill.
  • The Funky Monkey is one of the Madison/Huntsville area many vintage markets. What makes this one so unique is not just the name, but the things you'll find. The vendors at Funky Monkey have a knack for mixing the old with the new to make it all seem "brand new".

I spoke with one of the Funky Monkey's 30 vendors. Erma Sampson, owner of eCo, has a gift for not just refinishing her selections, but staging them beautifully. She places her pieces in the way they would be naturally showcased in the home. Because of this, it was easy to imagine one of her pieces in my own home.

There are two levels to this market and every space features pieces from times gone by, but have somehow been made to feel modern. You can find old and new clothing, specialty paints, decorative planters, handmade signs, and so many other treasures. Every where you turn, there will be something that catches your eye!

Want a great place to go and have fun with the kids? Where they blow off some steam and you can enjoy yourself too? Try the Insanity Entertainment Complex on the corner of Hughes Road and Mill in Madison. Revisit your youth and strap on a pair of good ol' fashion roller skates and hit the rink or enjoy a battle of PacMan at the arcade. There is even outdoor fun with the skate park, mini golf, and batting cages and I think everyone knows at least one person who would enjoy the rock wall! It's a place for all ages to have some good clean fun. After working up a sweat, you can hop over to Mad Al's; now open and serving frozen yogurt and gourmet coffee. There's a little something for everyone at the Insanity Entertainment Complex in Madison.

I think I subscribe to almost every online "pinteresty" little blog that sends stuff daily about ideas, colors, and downright fun stuff to do with my house. It's a playground of ideas; some take hold, some don't. So, I wanted to share a little bit of that happiness this morning! Feast your eyes as you maneuver through the link. Let it inspire you to do little things for fun, or if you need to stage your home, this is the kinds of things buyers are looking for! Bon'appetite!

If that is you, or someone you know, check out this perfect website that can help in the planning process from dresses, to vendors that can help make your wedding memorable and unique for both you and your spouse as well as your guests!

Tucked away on Segars Road in a little red building about a block from Hardiman Road is the best kept secret in Madison! Stocked with delicious "beyond paleo" breads, crusts, buns, breakfast and lunch sandwiches as well as snacks desserts, coffee and teas, this bakery specializes in wonderfully yummy dietary restrictive foods.

Having a strict list of "no's" may sound like it doesn't "taste good", but that's not the case with this hand crafted tasty and healthy food. Stacy, the owner of Liberated Specialty Foods, proudly touts, "no other bakery that we are aware of in the USA takes paleo to the level that we do by removing the starch in our food". Swing by for a "build your own" Panini sandwich for lunch or a quick afternoon pick me up late'.

When searching for a place to call "home", one of the biggest questions I get from families is, "how are the schools". As a Real Estate Professional, the way I answer that questions is by directing them to www.greatschools.org. However, another way to find out about schools is by going straight to our city webpage. While only some of the information that Greatschools.org features is actually on the page, it's a great way for families, especially ones new to the area, to become familiar with not only the schools but the community in which they live. Check out all the information below.

One of the most exciting things about the Madison area is the growth that it has had over the past 10 years and the changes that will be taking place over the next 10 years! For homeowners this can mean increased value both in prices of homes as well as quality of life. Already set apart by green space, Madison's plans of renovating several of it's current buildings to speak relevance into the community is a sure way to draw some great attention to the next generation of home buyers! The Madison plan to revitalize the area adjacent to Horizon Elementary on Old Madison Pike will be a wonderful addition to the idea that one can walk, even bike to the areas that are visited around town. I recently had the privilege of taking a quick peek into the new Old Black Bear Brewery that has taken over the old Bandito Burrito building in historic downtown Madison. James, the owner, even granted my daughter a picture of the inside sign! Over the past several years Madison has invested time, energy and money into renovating the downtown area with new storefronts and streets encouraging local entrepreneurs to move in and set up shop! Residents seem glad they did and welcome the retail.

Along with the "coming soon" Old Black Bear Brewery, you'll find shops like Nature's Apothecary, Saydy's Bistro, The Main Street Cafe' and, for those of us with a sweeter appetite, The Whistle Stop Sweet Shop! It's a nice stroll on a beautiful day! Check it out sometime and don't forget to welcome the Old Black Bear to downtown Madison, you'll find it located on Main Street. Madison has grown so much that there is not much room left to grow! New construction has been a major part of the choice buyers have when searching for a home. People that are looking to re-sell their homes have had to "compete" with new construction. The real estate market is so good in our area now, that it is a great to consult with a realtor and find out where their home is positioned in the market. Interest rates are at all time lows which allows you to have a lower payment or qualify for more house!
  • It was a day full of pressure in the North Alabama real estate world. Matter of fact, the whole week was full of demands for our self-required standards. Learning, growing, leading, meeting and helping people make smart moves in North Alabama real estate are always our median, but this week blessed us with a host of new systems and opportunities beyond the norm. My blood pressure escalated. My blood pressure quickly escalated high. Heading home from my Madison office (after my general physician's office hours) I felt extremely ill. If my body had a dashboard, every warning light would be bright red and every bell would be dinging. I was so alarmed that I knew that I needed to do something and do something fairly soon. Having some very good connections in the Madison medical community, I wheeled into a facility that I knew would give me a blood pressure check. I became their primary concern, or at least, that is how they made me feel. My BP was dangerously high.

Minutes later, I was in the ER of Madison Hospital. I walked in and filled out some very basic and short information. A couple of minutes later, as I finished completing the Madison Hospital form, a nurse appeared and asked me to enter a side door to triage. Inside, a tall young man in scrubs stood smiling and introduced himself by his first and last name. He stood there and asked questions as the nurse checked my vitals. He immediately explained what tests that I would incur. He gave me assurance that Madison Hospital was well qualified to address my issue. Afterwards, I learned that this young man was one of the Madison Hospital ER doctors.

The whole process went like a well-oiled machine. I felt like I was receiving the best care available and that I was the most important part of each staff member's day. From start to finish with an EKG, blood work, etc. my stay was less than an hour and a half. I walked out of there with a remedy to my ailment taking effect before my eyes. I can't say that I walked out of there as a new man. I was still the same old man, but this old man felt a thousand percent better. A big thank you to Madison Hospital. But who would expect less in Madison, Alabama?
