Performing Arts

A number of performing arts organizations in Mobile and around the region help keep arts lovers entertained. Many of these theaters are community-based organizations that rely on dedicated volunteers and generous contributions to remain in existence.

Saenger Theatre

A vital part of downtown Mobile's recent revitalization, the historical Saenger Theatre Centre for the Living Arts is a lavish venue for film screenings, live drama, and musical performances. The ornate decoration and architectural style was meant to draw on both Greek mythology and classic European opera house design.

The 400,000 square foot Civic Center hosts three separate facilities; Arena, Theater, and Exposition Hall; all under one roof. The building is in almost continuous use, serving as the setting for conventions, trade shows, rock concerts and Broadway musicals. It's not uncommon for two different events to occur in the building at the same exact time. Located in Mobile's historic downtown, the Civic Center is within walking distance of the city's most celebrated hotels and restaurants.
