Local Attractions
No matter what your interests are, there is much to do around the River Heritage Region. Here are a few of the more popular recreation spots in the area. Montgomery ZooMontgomery Zoo spreads across over 40 acres of land, and features over 700 animals from 5 different continents. The zoo houses exotic wildlife and endangered species in "barrier free" habitats. The free flight aviary allows visitors to see a variety of South American tropical birds up close in full flying glory. A miniature train snakes through the zoo grounds, affording passengers views not possible from the walking paths. Adventureland Theme ParkThis Dothan theme park is open 365 days a year and has no admission fees. Attractions at the park include miniature golf, go-karts, batting cages, bumper boats, and full arcade. Surfside Water ParkSurfside Water Park has a 450,000-gallon wave pool, a river that winds throughout the park, four body flumes, two speed slides, and a 5000 sq. ft. kiddies area. For a break from the water, the park also includes covered pavilions, volleyball court, concession stands and a gift shop. |
